Winterthur's old town and museum district are walkable — the Kunstmuseum, the Stadtgarten, and the main shopping street are all within 15 minutes of each other on foot from the train station. The Fotomuseum and the Sulzerareal are a further 15-minute walk east of the centre.
The city has a good bus network, and regional trains connect the city centre to outlying districts like Töss and Oberwinterthur. Cycling is easy on the flat terrain around the centre, and bike rentals are available from the train station. For Am Römerholz, about 1.5 kilometres north of the city centre on a hill, a bus runs from the centre or it's a 20-minute uphill walk.
