Dykyi Sad Archaeological Site

Beneath the Dykyi Sad park ("Wild Garden") lies one of the most significant Bronze Age discoveries in Eastern Europe: a fortified settlement dating to roughly 1300 BC, contemporary with the fall of the Hittite Empire and the end of the Mycenaean world. The site covers several hectares and preserves the remains of streets, buildings, and a defensive perimeter, suggesting a substantial and organised urban community. Excavations have revealed evidence of long-distance trade and metalworking. The park above remains open and the archaeological work continues — an active dig site rather than a finished museum piece.
