Eating Out

Mykolaiv's restaurant scene is shaped by its location at a river confluence close to the Black Sea: fresh fish and seafood are the default, and most decent kitchens do something interesting with Black Sea sprat, carp, and crayfish. The city has a solid tradition of Ukrainian home cooking alongside the fish staples, and the central streets around the main square carry a handful of proper sit-down restaurants. Pre-war Mykolaiv had a lively cafe culture along Soborna Street; some establishments have continued through the war years.
