Things to Do

Vinnytsia's main sights are centred on the Southern Bug riverfront and the compact old town along Soborna Street. The city is walkable at its core; most of the key attractions can be reached on foot from the centre.

The Roshen Fountain on the river is the city's most famous sight — a floating fountain complex that puts on light-and-music shows on summer evenings, drawing large crowds to the embankment promenade. The Pirogov National Museum to the south of the centre preserves the estate and embalmed body of the celebrated 19th-century military surgeon Nikolai Pirogov, a genuinely unusual and memorable visit.

The Transfiguration Cathedral, a large Orthodox church on the riverbank, and Saint Nicholas Church are the main historic religious buildings. The Soviet-era Vinnytsia Water Tower is a landmark of the city skyline. Outside the city, the ruins of Hitler's Werwolf bunker at Strizhavka make for an eerie excursion.
