Buxton is served by train from Manchester Piccadilly via Stockport, a journey of about an hour. Services run roughly every hour. The station is a short walk from the town centre. There is also a direct bus service from Manchester and local connections from surrounding Peak District towns.
By car, Buxton is about an hour southeast of Manchester on the A6. The town sits at the junction of several Peak District roads and is a natural base for exploring the national park. Parking in the town centre is pay-and-display and fills on summer weekends.
