By train. Lincoln Central station, in the middle of Downhill, has direct trains to Nottingham (50 minutes), Sheffield (90 minutes), Newark Northgate (20 minutes on the East Coast Main Line — useful for fast connections to London King's Cross), and a slower line to Peterborough. The new direct service from London King's Cross runs four times a day (about 2 hours).
By bus and coach. National Express coaches connect Lincoln to London (about 5 hours), Birmingham, Manchester, and most major English cities. The bus station is next to the railway station, in the new Transport Hub.
By road. Lincoln is 50 km from the M1 (junction 30) and 30 km from the A1 (Newark). The A46 from Newark and the A57 from Sheffield are the most common approaches. Parking inside the city centre is tight — the Park and Ride at Waddington Heath is the easiest option for car visitors.
By air. East Midlands Airport (EMA) is the nearest major airport (90 minutes by car or coach). Humberside Airport is closer (1 hour) but has fewer routes.
