Eating Out

Cambridge's restaurant scene reflects its demographics: a mix of budget-conscious students, academic lunchers, and well-heeled visitors, served by everything from punishing Michelin-star tasting menus to excellent Southeast Asian canteens. The city punches above its size for good food, particularly around Mill Road, which has the highest concentration of independent restaurants.

Mill Road, running south from the city centre through the Romsey Town neighbourhood, has Turkish, Ethiopian, Sri Lankan, Indian, and Persian restaurants at reasonable prices, along with a Saturday farmers' market and some good cafes. It is where local residents actually eat as opposed to where tourists are steered.
