Midsummer House is Cambridge's top restaurant, a two-Michelin-star operation in a Victorian villa on Midsummer Common beside the river. Chef Daniel Clifford has held stars here since 2005. Prices are serious: lunch menus start around £80 per head; dinner tasting menus are £160 and up. Booking is essential, sometimes months in advance. The setting, in a renovated Victorian greenhouse overlooking the common, is beautiful.
