Melford Hall is a major National Trust house in Long Melford, a few miles from Sudbury. The Tudor brick exterior, lived-in family rooms, and garden setting make it one of the strongest historic- house visits in the Stour Valley area.
The house is also associated with Beatrix Potter, who was related to the family and visited often; that connection adds a literary thread without overwhelming the place. Pair it with Long Melford's wool-church streetscape and nearby Kentwell Hall for a full day of Suffolk history.
