Blakeney is a small village on the North Norfolk Coast, tucked behind salt marshes and tidal creeks rather than facing the open sea. The village is pretty, but the reason to come is the landscape around it: Blakeney Point, seal boats, birdwatching, and long, wind-bright walks along the coast.
This is not a resort in the beach-and-pier sense. It is a place of mudflats, marsh grass, narrow lanes, crab shops, and tide tables. Blakeney Point has one of England's great grey seal colonies, and boat trips from Morston or Blakeney make the wildlife easy to see without disturbing it.
Blakeney works best as a slow day on the coast. Take a seal trip if the tide allows, walk a section of the Norfolk Coast Path, then come back through the village for seafood and a look at the quay.
