The small lake just south of Hawkshead is one of the quietest in the district. Beatrix Potter fished here regularly and it appears in her work. A trout fishery now operates on the water, but you can walk the shoreline path for free. The reflections of the surrounding hills on a still morning are among the most peaceful sights in the Lakes.
