Dr Johnson's House

Dr Johnson's House is the early-18th-century townhouse where Samuel Johnson lived while compiling his landmark Dictionary of the English Language. Hidden in a court off Fleet Street, it is one of the few domestic buildings of its period to survive in this part of London.

The museum is small but rich in atmosphere, with period rooms, portraits, prints, personal objects and displays on Johnson's writing life. It works especially well as a literary stop between Fleet Street, St Paul's and the Inns of Court.
