The shimmering steel-and-glass concert hall on the Gateshead bank, designed by Norman Foster and opened in 2004. Renamed The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in 2024 after a corporate sponsorship change but still known to everyone locally as the Sage. Three auditoriums of different sizes host the Royal Northern Sinfonia, touring orchestras, pop and folk acts, and a heavy programme of jazz.
The free-access concourse runs the length of the building with sweeping views of the Tyne and the Newcastle skyline. Worth a wander even without a ticket; the cafe and bar are open through the day.
