Newcastle compresses a lot into a small footprint. The Quayside and the bridges over the Tyne are the showpiece; Grainger Town is the architectural set piece; Ouseburn is the gritty cultural quarter; the great Victorian museums are within a few minutes' walk of each other in the centre. You can see the best of the city in two long days and have time left over for Hadrian's Wall or a North Sea beach.
