Albert Park

Albert Park is the Victorian heart of north-west Abingdon — a small public park laid out in 1864 on land donated by the local Bowyer family, with a bandstand, ornamental beds, and mature plane trees. The Italianate drinking fountain at the centre commemorates Prince Albert and was the gift of a wealthy local doctor.

It is not the reason you come to Abingdon, but it makes a pleasant detour if you are walking up to Abingdon School or the John Mason area. There are usually a few families on the playground and dogs being walked on the open grass.
