Preston Manor

Edwardian manor house and gardens showing Brighton life above and below stairs

Preston Manor gives Brighton a quieter, more domestic historical stop than the Royal Pavilion. The house has medieval roots, but the visit is mainly Edwardian: furnished rooms, servants' spaces, and the social machinery of an upper-class household just outside the modern city centre.

The gardens are part of the appeal, especially if you are already walking north toward Preston Park. It is not Brighton's loudest attraction, but it adds texture to a city often reduced to the seafront, lanes, and nightlife.
