Eastbourne is at its best from May through September. The weather on this stretch of the Sussex coast is among the sunniest in England — the town claims more hours of sunshine than almost anywhere in Britain — and the outdoor attractions are most accessible in summer.
June is particularly good: the Eastbourne International tennis tournament takes place at Devonshire Park in the week before Wimbledon, bringing a lively atmosphere to the town. The summer months see Eastbourne at its busiest with visitors from London and the surrounding counties.
Autumn is quiet but pleasant — the light on the chalk cliffs and the Channel can be extraordinary in September and October, and the walking is uncrowded. Winter is very quiet; many seafront attractions operate reduced hours or close.
