Gillingham Park

Gillingham Park is the town's main public open space, a Victorian-laid-out 24-hectare park immediately north of the town centre. The bandstand and the formal flower beds around the bowling green date from the original 1903 layout, restored in recent years with heritage funding.

The park has a children's adventure playground, tennis courts, a skate park, and the small but agreeable Gillingham War Memorial — a tall stone cross unveiled in 1924 commemorating local servicemen of both World Wars. The cricket pitch in the south corner hosts Gillingham CC games on summer Saturdays. A pleasant 30-minute stroll, or a longer afternoon on a sunny weekend.
