Priestfield Stadium

Priestfield is the home of Gillingham FC, the only Football League club in Kent, and the most stubbornly traditional of the small grounds in the south-east. The Gills have played here since 1893, and despite a series of corporate renamings (KRBS, MEMS) the locals still call it Priestfield and probably always will.

The ground holds just over 11,000 across four stands, two of which still feel essentially as they did in the 1980s. The atmosphere on a Saturday match day is one of the better lower-league experiences in the country. Stadium tours can be arranged on non-match days through the club — including pitchside access, the home and away dressing rooms, and the press box. For non-football visitors, walking past on a quiet morning to see the modest brick frontage and the club crest above the door is enough.
