The Park Tavern

The Park Tavern is a back-street community pub a couple of streets behind the railway station, a CAMRA-recognised real-ale specialist with eight constantly rotating cask handpumps and a fridge full of regional craft cans. The interior is a single small wood-panelled room with a real fire in winter and a small enclosed beer garden out the back.

It is the kind of pub Gillingham does well and London does not — no music, no television, no fruit machines, just decent beer, conversation, and the occasional pork pie at the bar. Cash and card accepted, dogs welcome, no food beyond bar snacks. The locals are friendly to anyone who comes in respectfully.
