Higginson Park

Riverside park and home of the Marlow Regatta

Higginson Park is Marlow's main green space, stretching from the high street down to the river between the bridge and the lock. It is named after General Sir George Higginson, a local benefactor who lived to the age of 100. The park has open lawns, mature trees, a children's playground, and a bandstand, and on summer days it fills with families and picnickers.

The park is the venue for the Marlow Town Regatta and Festival, held each June, which brings rowing races, live music, and a funfair to the riverbank. Even outside festival season, the park is a fine place to sit with the river sliding past. Court Garden, the handsome 18th-century house at the park's western edge, now serves as a leisure centre.
