Marlow is small enough to see in a day, but the best of it is concentrated along the river and the high street. The suspension bridge is the obvious starting point, and from there you can walk the towpath in either direction through genuinely beautiful Thames-side countryside. The town's literary connections run deep — Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein here, and the churchyard and historic houses reward a slow wander.
