The seafront and town centre are easily walkable, and the long promenade between Sandbanks (west) and Hengistbury Head (east) is one of the best walking and cycling routes in the south of England. The Beach Buses 1 and 2 (run by yellow buses) loop along the seafront in summer.
For longer trips, the Morebus and Yellow Buses networks cover the conurbation; a single day ticket works on either. The town is good for cycling -- many of the seafront and clifftop paths allow bikes. Beryl Bikes runs a popular dock-less hire scheme. Taxis are plentiful and Uber operates throughout the area.
