Bournemouth is well connected by rail: direct trains from London Waterloo take about two hours and run twice an hour. The station is north of the centre, about a 25-minute walk or a short bus or taxi ride from the seafront. National Express coaches run from London Victoria; the journey takes about three hours.
By road, the M27 ends near Lyndhurst and the A31 runs west from there to the Bournemouth–Poole conurbation. Parking in the centre is expensive; park-and-ride is available from the edges. Bournemouth Airport, eight miles north, has seasonal flights from European holiday destinations and budget routes within the UK.
