Getting There

Bude has no railway station — the branch line closed in 1966. Access is by road or bus. By car from London, the journey takes four to five hours via the M4, M5, and A39 (or the A30). The A39 — the Atlantic Highway — runs along the north Cornwall coast and is the main access road from both Barnstaple in the north and Bodmin in the south.

National Express and First Kernow buses connect Bude to Launceston (40 minutes) and Bideford (1h15), from which connections to Exeter and Plymouth are possible. The nearest train stations are Bodmin Parkway (40 miles south, for the mainline to London Paddington) and Exeter St Davids (55 miles northeast).

The nearest airports are Newquay Cornwall Airport (40 miles south, limited destinations) and Exeter Airport (55 miles northeast, more routes including domestic and some European).
