Bude is a beach and walking town. The main draws are the Atlantic beaches — Summerleaze in the centre, Crooklets and Widemouth Bay for surfing — the recreational canal, and the South West Coast Path, which passes through the town and offers dramatic cliff walking north toward Morwenstow and south toward Crackington Haven. The town centre is unpretentious and functional rather than picture-postcard Cornish, but the coastline immediately surrounding it is as good as anything in the county.
