The National Trust tearoom at the head of the Carding Mill Valley car park is the natural refuelling stop for walkers on the Long Mynd. It's a simple, honest operation: hot drinks, homemade cakes, scones, and soup. The setting more than compensates for any lack of culinary ambition — the valley rises steeply above the terrace, and on a clear day you can watch hang-gliders launching from the plateau. Busy on summer weekends; arrives early or comes late to avoid the queue. Open daily in summer, weekends only in winter — check the National Trust website for current hours.
