Getting There

By train Church Stretton has its own station on the Shrewsbury–Hereford line (the Welsh Marches Line), one of Britain's great scenic railways. Direct trains run from Shrewsbury in about 30 minutes and from Hereford in under an hour. The line is operated by Transport for Wales; services are roughly hourly. From Birmingham New Street, change at Shrewsbury — total journey around 90 minutes. The station is in the heart of the town, five minutes' walk from the Long Mynd trailhead.

By car Church Stretton sits just off the A49, the main road between Shrewsbury and Hereford. From the M54 motorway (junction with the M6), take the A5 to Shrewsbury and then the A49 south — about 40 minutes in clear traffic. From Birmingham, allow around 90 minutes. Parking is available at the town car park off Sandford Avenue.

By bus National Express coaches do not serve Church Stretton directly. Local Arriva and Taxico services connect to Shrewsbury and Ludlow, but the train is far more reliable and scenic.
