Church Stretton punches above its weight for food given its size. The town's visitor economy has supported a cluster of independent cafes and restaurants that cater well to hungry walkers and day-trippers.
The Long Mynd Hotel does a reliable Sunday lunch with views across the valley — booking recommended. Several cafes along the High Street do straightforward home-cooked lunches: soups, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, the kind of food that makes sense after a four-hour hill walk. Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, just south of town, has a café on site when it's open.
For an evening meal, options are limited but decent. The town has a good pub, a bistro-style restaurant, and an Indian takeaway. If you want more variety, Ludlow — one of England's great food towns — is 15 miles south and worth a trip in its own right.
