Getting There

Shrewsbury is well served by rail and road from the main English cities and from Wales.

By Train

Shrewsbury railway station sits at the neck of the town's river loop, directly beneath the castle. It is a major junction: lines run to Birmingham (about 1 hour), Chester (1 hour), Cardiff via the Marches line (2.5 hours), and Aberystwyth via the Cambrian Coast line (2 hours). From London Euston, change at Birmingham New Street; journey time around 2.5 hours total.

By Car

Shrewsbury is on the A5, the main road from London to Holyhead. From the M6 (Birmingham direction), take the M54 which ends just east of Shrewsbury. The town centre has several car parks; the town itself is largely pedestrianised.

By Bus

National Express coaches connect Shrewsbury to Birmingham, London, and other major cities. Arriva Wales buses connect to Welsh destinations.
