The Quarry is Shrewsbury's great riverside park, wrapped by a loop of the Severn just below the town centre. Its lawns, avenues, and riverside paths are part of local life, while the Dingle garden adds a more formal burst of flowers and water.
It is the obvious place to soften a day of medieval lanes, churches, and black-and-white buildings. Walk the river, cross toward the town walls, or simply sit for a while: Shrewsbury makes more sense when you feel how tightly it is held by the Severn.
