Royal Portrush Golf Club

Royal Portrush Golf Club has hosted The Open Championship twice — in 1951 and 2019 — and is consistently ranked among the top ten golf courses in the world. The Dunluce Links course sits directly on the East Strand dunes, with several holes running along the clifftop above the beach. The views of the Atlantic from the elevated tees, and back inland toward the town and mountains, are some of the finest in links golf.

The club is private and green fees are expensive, but visitor rounds are available if booked well in advance. The Valley Links course is a second 18-hole layout on the same grounds, more accessible and more suitable for casual visitors. If you are not playing, the clubhouse bar is open to visitors and the view from the car park alone gives a good sense of the setting.

The 2025 Open Championship is scheduled to return to Royal Portrush, which means the course will be in immaculate condition and the area around the club will be busy in the weeks before and after the event.
