The coastline around Achiltibuie offers walking that rivals anything in Scotland for scenery, with very few people on the paths. The western shore of the Coigach peninsula — which Achiltibuie faces — is broken into a series of small bays and rocky headlands, with the Summer Isles always in view across the water.
From the village, informal paths head in both directions along the shore. To the north, the path passes Polbain and continues toward the headland overlooking Badentarbat Bay. To the south, the coast becomes wilder and less visited. Wellies or waterproof boots are essential year-round — even in summer the paths can be boggy, and the coastal grass stays wet long after rain. No fixed itinerary is needed; walking until the view gets too good to leave and then turning back is a perfectly valid plan.
