St Vigean's is a small historic village just north of Arbroath, best known for its old sandstone cottages, 17th-century bridge, and church set high on a mound above the street.
The church has medieval origins, though much of what visitors see today reflects later rebuilding. It is a worthwhile short detour from Arbroath Abbey for the approach up St Vigean's Brae and the sense of an older settlement tucked just outside town.
