The River Deveron flowing through Banff is a noted salmon and sea trout river. The season runs from February to October, with the best salmon fishing typically in autumn. Fishing permits are available through the Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Charitable Trust.
The lower Deveron, in the wooded gorge below Duff House, is particularly scenic — you're casting in the shadow of a Georgian mansion designed by William Adam. The river also produces good brown trout through the summer months.
