Carlingwark Loch sits right on the edge of Castle Douglas and gives the town its breathing space. The shore is good for an easy walk, with waterbirds, views back to town, and picnic spots when the weather behaves.
It is not a wilderness outing, and that is the point. You can step out from the centre of town and be by the water in a few minutes.
