Linlithgow is on the main Edinburgh-Glasgow via Falkirk rail line, with frequent services throughout the day. The journey from Edinburgh Waverley takes about 20 minutes; from Glasgow Queen Street about 35 minutes. The railway station is a short walk from the palace and the High Street.
By car, Linlithgow is on the M9 motorway between Edinburgh and Stirling, about 18 miles west of Edinburgh. There is parking near the palace and along the lochside. The town makes a natural stop if you are driving between Edinburgh and Stirling or Falkirk.
