Lochinver Larder

The Lochinver Larder is a bakery and restaurant in the village that has become quietly celebrated for its hand-crimped pies. The fillings change but typically include combinations like venison and red wine, haggis with neeps and tatties, or lamb and apricot — all using local ingredients. Pies are sold hot and cold from the shop counter and can be taken away, making them ideal for a pre-hill lunch.

The restaurant section, known as the Riverside Bistro, overlooks the River Inver and serves more formal meals: local seafood, game from the nearby estates, and puddings that lean toward comfort. Booking is advisable in summer. The whole operation is a reminder that distance from a city is no barrier to good cooking.
