Bressay Lighthouse

Bressay Lighthouse stands on the island's southern coast, facing the busy water between Shetland and the North Sea. The Stevensons built it in the 1850s as part of the chain that made Shetland's rough approaches less deadly.

The lighthouse itself is compact, but the setting does the work: open sea, wind, and cliff edges with Lerwick feeling much farther away than it is.
