Noss is the reason many travellers cross to Bressay in summer. A small boat takes visitors from Bressay to the island, where a grassy walk leads to the Noup: huge sandstone cliffs crowded with gannets, guillemots, fulmars, kittiwakes, and puffins.
It is one of Shetland's great wildlife experiences, but it needs respect. The boat runs only in suitable weather, dogs are not allowed, and the cliffs are high enough that wind and mist can turn a good walk serious.
