George Waterston Memorial Centre and Museum

The George Waterston Memorial Centre and Museum is a small island museum in the old school, covering Fair Isle's social history, crofting, knitwear, archaeology, and birdwatching. It is modest, but on an island this small the details matter.

Waterston was the ornithologist who helped establish the bird observatory and later bought the island before it passed to the National Trust for Scotland. The museum gives that story a human scale.
