Shetland Bus Memorial

Harbour memorial to the wartime boat crews linking Shetland and Norway

The Shetland Bus Memorial stands on Main Street, close to the harbour that made Scalloway useful during the Second World War. The operation carried agents, refugees, weapons, and supplies between Shetland and Norway, often in brutal winter seas.

It is a quick stop, but a serious one. Visit after the museum so the names and boats have weight.
