The pub in Carbost — the only one. A converted old building facing the loch, with Talisker on the bar alongside a good selection of other island and mainland malts. Basic pub food, fire in the hearth in the evenings, and a crowd of walkers, climbers, and distillery visitors. No pretension, strong pours, and the Black Cuillin visible from the beer garden on clear days.
The pub also has basic accommodation — some of the more atmospheric rooms available on Skye, if simplicity doesn't bother you. Check availability in advance during summer.
