A genuine oddity: a private collection of antique toys assembled by a single enthusiast and crammed into a small building on the road through Glendale. Dolls, teddy bears, tinplate cars, train sets, soldiers, and games from the 19th century onwards, arranged with affection rather than curation. The owner is usually about and happy to talk through any piece.
It is a small, idiosyncratic museum of the kind that British villages used to be full of and rarely are anymore. An hour well spent on a wet afternoon, particularly if travelling with children or with anyone of the right age to recognise the contents of their own childhood toy box.
