Glamaig is the cone-shaped 775 metre Corbett that rises directly behind the Sligachan Hotel to the east. It is steep, made of loose granite scree, and famous as the venue for the annual Glamaig Hill Race, run on the first Saturday in July. The course climbs from the hotel to the summit and back — about 8 kilometres with 770 metres of ascent — and the record of just over 44 minutes was set in 1997 and has never been beaten.
For ordinary walkers the climb takes around three hours. The view from the top takes in the full sweep of the Black Cuillin, the Sound of Raasay, and on a clear day, the mountains of Torridon on the mainland.
