Sligachan is a small hamlet at the northern end of Glen Sligachan, at the junction of the main Skye roads. It is the classic starting point for walks into the Black Cuillin. The Sligachan Hotel, with its large outdoor beer garden, has been welcoming climbers and walkers since the Victorian era. The Old Sligachan Bridge over the river is a well-known photographic subject, framed by the spike of Sgurr nan Gillean and the cone of Glamaig.

Things to Do
There is no village to speak of at Sligachan — just a hotel, a bunkhouse, a campsite, and a junction. What you come for is the view: the dark gabbro spires of the Black Cuillin rising directly out of the glen to the south, and the rounded granite slopes of the Red Cuillin to the east. This is the classic gateway to the high mountains of Skye and the starting point for several of the great walks in Glen Sligachan.
