The Macrobert Arts Centre is the principal performing arts venue for Stirling and central Scotland. It sits on the University of Stirling campus but operates as a public venue with a year-round programme of theatre, dance, music, film, comedy and children's events.
The centre opened in 1971 and was extensively refurbished in 2002. It has a 466-seat main auditorium, a flexible studio space, two cinemas showing independent and arthouse films alongside mainstream releases, and a good café and bar. The film programme is the best in the area for anything other than the latest releases.
It is open seven days a week from morning to late evening. The centre is reached by frequent bus from the city centre, or it is a 35-minute walk through the university campus from Bridge of Allan.
