An Lanntair is Stornoway's arts centre, a modern glass-fronted building on South Beach that carries far more cultural weight than its size suggests. It has gallery exhibitions, film screenings, concerts, theatre, and a good cafe, making it one of the few places in town where visitors and islanders naturally mix.
It is especially useful on wet days, which are not rare here. Check the programme before you arrive; a small exhibition or local music night can give you a better feel for Lewis than another hour in the car.
