The Castle Grounds are Stornoway's green escape: woodland paths, harbour viewpoints, and cycling trails wrapped around Lews Castle. That sounds ordinary until you remember where you are. Lewis is mostly open moorland, and a walk under mature beech and sycamore trees feels almost exotic here.
The paths are easy to reach from the town centre by crossing the bridge toward the castle. They are good for a short leg-stretch after the ferry or a longer loop when the weather is fair.
