Bars and Cafes

The pubs inside the walls are the heart of Caernarfon's nightlife, and you can do a short crawl between them on a single evening. The Black Boy Inn on Northgate Street is the historic favourite; the Anglesey Arms on the quay has the best harbour view; the Pen Deitsh and Y Goron Fach are properly local. Most pubs serve food at lunch and into the early evening.

For coffee, Caffi Maes on Castle Square and the café at Galeri on the harbour are reliable; the Welsh-speaking crowd tends towards Caffi Maes. Several smaller independent cafés have opened in recent years along Stryd y Plas.
